What is widget? When I put this in goole search I got few tens (may be more) definitions. Historically this means "is an element of a graphical user interface (GUI) that displays an information arrangement changeable " but also "a small specialized GUI application that provides some visual information and/or easy access to frequently used functions ".
In the other hand it is "A web widget is a portable chunk of code that can be installed and executed within any separate HTML-based web page by an end user without requiring additional compilation. "

We mean both type, but rleated with internet. So all widget comunicate with some backend server program also known as web services
